Glin 2nd Day
Apart from the gales and rain it was a super days coursing at Glin.....
What a cracking Cup so early in the season. I make no excuse for being a big fan of Wallace Green................he gives 100% and never takes his eye off the hare...........love him!!

Ballydorgan Hero meets Whitestone Rock...........two super reliable dogs who always give their best.
At the bottom of the card Sporting Rio is going well, doing his best work at the top of the field ...and a longer test will see him a big contender
Sporting Rio and Moat Mattie

While we need the rain...........please can it fall in the evenings.....
Judge Paul Horan did a super job....
Id say theres a few nice dog pups in the Derby............one I like the look of ....Gallys Bridge ran unsighted first course, so a "back to slips" puts him at a disadvantage.......and its a 64 dog stake so all energy will be needed.
Gallys Bridge
Another impressive pup.....imho is Stiff Test............showed huge pace in 3rd round, to then get a bit of work. At 100lb this fella could do without the turns .....and came out looking like a tired dog in the next round. None the less hes one for the note book!
Stiff test and Savemybacon ......working in the rain!
at the bottom of the card Shannonvale Matt meets Faithlegg Matt, both pups have won impressive so the buckle should be fair.
The weather improved for the later runs and the attendence was good.
Coursing starts a 12.00 in the morning...........All age bitch stake then complete card.
For those going for first time.....From Limerick take the N69.........At Glin turn left into the main villiage road....................At the fork take the Left turn..............the coursing ground is along that road on the right.

Wallace Green
First thing in the morning he meets Atlantic Style in what should be a great buckle.

Roll on the Weekend
While waiting for the weekend perhaps a look back to last seasons Irish Cup..........those two semi finals will stay in the minds of all those who attended for years to come. Four great dogs going head to head. It was a wonderful meeting and full credit to the team who ran a first class meeting.
Fitzgerald experiences the joy of six
by Tom Higgins
LEGENDARY Kerry trainer Pa Fitzgerald recorded his second J.P. McManus Irish Cup win in-a-row, and his sixth in all, when last season’s Boylesport Derby runner-up, Sandy Sea, landed the €80,000 winning prize for well- known owner Patsy Byrne (Duagh and London) at a well attended and highly successful Patrickswell meeting yesterday.
Fitzgerald, now based in Crogh, Co. Limerick, was quick to praise his gallant charge, declaring: "You need to have the ammunition and this is a super dog who never gets tired."
It was an exceptional training feat by Fitzgerald because the dog was slightly lame after the Champion Stakes in Clonmel last month. However, Fitzgerald stressed the dog was beaten fair and square in that decider by Catunda Ashmore but decided to let him take his chance in the Irish Cup when the classic was put back a week.
The Fitzgerald-Byrne combination were successful last season with Castlemartyr, which Byrne owned jointly with Helen Murphy of Castleisland, Co. Kerry.
Fitzgerald other winners were: Ballyard Yank, 1979/80; Ballyduff Bobby 1982/83; Black Rock in 1984/85, and yesterday was his third success for Byrne as he also turned out Castle Pines in 2004/05
In the final Sandy Sea defeated the gambled on Johnny Casanovaw - backed from 8-1 to 5-1 before coursing - by three lengths.
Before the quarter-finals, Johnny Casanova was down to 6-4 to take the classic with Sienna Steel on offer and 2-1 and Sandy Sea quoted at 4-1.
In the first quarter-final Johnny Casanova led Ballydorgan Hero four lengths with Sienna Steel coming from slight arrears to get the better of Freniti Options by three lengths.
Sandy Sea raced away from Shining Town to take the turn by a wide margin. In the final quarter-final Wallace Green won the battle of the puppies when beating Squatters Rights by eight lengths.
Both semi-finals were probably the greatest ever run at this level and proved the highlights of a meeting that gave coursing a massive late season fillip.
Johnny Casanova, who was now down to evens, just held on to beat the unlucky Sienna Steel, who changed sides before closing from half way. Then Sandy Sea, a 5-2 chance, then came from behind in a thriller to put out the Brendan Matthews trained Wallace Green by a neck.
In the final Sandy Sea was best away and raced clear for a three lengths win over the Michael O’Donovan trained Johnny Casanova.

The one thing that hit you about Sandy Sea is he never seems to tire......he looked ready to run again at the end of the day

GOOD HARE DAY
It was a great relief to see the hares at Liscannor so well trained and strong. A game of Ducks and Drakes played by Mr Gormley left little time for catching and training hares..............it is to there credit that Liscannor were up to the task.

And Finally a big thankyou to these lads...........just some of the days workers
Sorry I had n pen to take your names...........if you would like to you can click on "comment " below and add them yourself!

Opening Day
The weather kept fine for a super first day at Liscannor. The crowd was hugh and many of these were holiday makers impressed with their first look at Coursing. Many had only seen the terrible propagander put out by the antis and were pleased they made the effort to see it for themselves.
Hares were excllent all day and a great credit to Liscannor club, who excelled in difficult circumstances.
Scattery Express (Matt Hyland x Scattery Mac) impressed in the Bitch TS
Many pups were running green on this first day..........there were a few scrathced runners in the second round as conditions were firm. Drying winds at this time of the year soon change the going........rain is needed soon!
