The hares were flying at Lixnaw

Its my first visit to Lixnaw. I was told they have been working hard down there and I must say the work is paying off.  The whole setup is excellent.  The grounds were perfect and the hares were strong.  Great days coursing!!..........I wish I was back there in the morning but im booked to go to Limerick City.

As you can see theres a great new stand..............im sure it was handy on friday!!

First class hare boxing hut.............beats a old tent!

Behind the slippers hut is a house.................by the time I realised it was the canteen and not someones house they had sold 5 gallons of soup and not a sip for me..................great inside very comfy...............with first class catering

and the hare accomodation is first class too...............and this showed by the quality hares we saw today

The Seasons underway

Were right into the thick of the season now.  Rain has started to arrive , and not soon enough.

Next week sees coursing every day of the week.    I will be at Lixnaw on Saturday and Limerick on Sunday.

After that Im in England for a few days attending a course on how to use my camera!!

The following weekend will be Carlow and  I think Listowel on the Sunday..........

My first visit to this club...........Its fantastic..........the field is owned by the club and you can see just what can be done by a hard working club .  Great field with everything thought of...........a nice stand .........flushing toilets!

I thought this was a great performance by Bexhill Brian............This year has seen him blossom.  Taking his second cup so early in the season.......first class..........The Matthews team have hit the ground running with a team of top quality dogs 100% fit and its paying off............a nice double today.

Runner up was Coolcastle Point...........it was great to see him back after last seasons injury

OAKS TRIAL STAKE

Its easy to forget when watching Trial Stakes that they are puppies and as such can improve from one day to another.  I missed the first day of this meeting but Im told that Latest Gamble won without really catching the eye...........the second day was a different matter as she looked a very nice pup to my eyes

Bred in the purple out of last years brood of the year............its alot to live up to.  A repeat mating to Mulitibet. The first litter produced Corn Na  Feile winner  Wizard............and of course half sister to Wallace Green...........The first from Carrick Sams latest litter to win a Trial Stake and she did so in good style

The other finalist was Enjoy the Sunshine...........bred ,owned and trained............like the all age bitch winner , by Donal O`Sullivan...........and out of the same dam..............Give it To Paddy., this time by Droopys Caesar.Only a May puppy............one to keep a eye out for later in the year !

Most people were of the opinion that this was a high class trial stake

The dog that stood out on the day ,walked away with the trophy.........he put up a faultless display

bred by Sinead Guiney  by Castle Pines out of  Duarigle Dee and handled by Gerry Meehan.   This was a stake full of runners from high profile trainers.  By the end of the season im sure were look bak and see just how good this stake was.

There was a Razzledazle Billy gog in this stake that took your eye straigh away...............a look at his breeding would tell you that his dam has thrown  Produce Stakes winners Redbarn Panther  and talented Tedso on the track.............This chap has some speed.
