Preview of Week 6

Freshford, Limerick City & Trim

Freshford’s meeting gets underway on Thursday and concludes on Friday. The Handsome Billa and Purden Cup is the main attraction and Wyken Power who performed well at Crohane recently can go well in the top half. Eastern Shore and Figaro meet in a cracking first round buckle. Eastern Shore won recently at Fermoy and Figaro is having his first run of the new season after reaching the third round of the Derby as a puppy. The winner of this buckle will surely take a lot of beating in this stake.
In the Derby trial stake, Bornforthehill and Swinging Light have performed well at early meetings and can go well again, among the unknowns Kyle Klien, a half-brother to Kyle Calvin, could continue the good run of form for the Field family. In the bitch trial stake Skellig Tulip makes most appeal following her good performance at Cashel.
Limerick City’s Treaty Cup has received an attractive entry. Duarigle Mystic has already earned six points after victory at Ballyheigue and lines up again. Kingdom Call and Call Him Bolt meet in a tight first round buckle with Kingdom Call the selection to come out of the top half. Intacta Banba makes a return to the field of his trial stake success and the Irish Cup runner-up can go well here. Cooga Darlan ran up to Skellig Sunlight at Cashel and can give him most to do in the bottom half.
The All-Age bitch stake has some interesting performers and Castle Tornado and Kilkeale Queen look the best in the top half. Both have runs under their belt this season and should progress throughout the stake. Fallen Prey has two points under her belt from running in male company and could also go well here.
Limerick City’s Derby trial stake sees Magical Harvey line up after performing and clocking well in two rounds in Loughrea. Another interesting performer in the line-up is Glouner Jim, a dog who was beaten by the impressive Brownes Kitchen at Ballyheigue. In the Oaks trial stake Stonepark Kate and Up With Ya performed well at Kilflynn and Carrowlough looked useful at Loughrea.
The Gilroy Cup at Trim looks a good standard of event and Light Duty makes his seasonal debut. A Derby semi-finalist last year can go well here but will come up against the recent regional winner Power of Peace. The winner of this buckle should land the four points at stake. Broadwell James can progress to the final from the bottom half.
City Beauty ran well at Castleisland and is turned out quickly here. Uncoursed as a puppy, this lady can land the All-Age bitch stake from Fancy Rae Baker.
