NATIONAL MEETING 2010

It only seems like last week I jumped into the car to pop down to Liscannor...........and here we are near the end of the season.

What a Clonmel !!  The whole thing just ran like clockwork and I just couldn't believe the weather cleared , leaving us a perfect day on Wednesday

Well done to all the competitors who gave us such a marvelous last day...........we thank you all...........and our finalist were superb.

I hope to do the Festival justice , so the blog will take a few days to complete.....thanks for your patience

THE BOYLESPORTS.COM DERBY

Winner: ADIOS ALONSO (Janey Mac Aroo – Eoin Bui)
owner Holian, Maher, O`Sullivan Syn
Breeder John O`Sullivan
Trainer Gerry Holian
qualified Castletowngeoghegan 32

Ireland's

Alonso repaid the kennel confidence with a gutsy display over all three days,

Alonso leads Toryhill Blonde on the first day

His first day runs showed what class he has, leaving slips like a rocket he clocked a sensational 12.38..........

The second round saw Cooga Ruby out like a shot to lead him
with a repeat in the third round..against Likely Treble...but Alonso was never going to be denied
It was reported a shoulder injury on the first day slowed him down!!  So full credit to Gerry Holian and his team for Tuesday nights work.

Alonso digs deep against Prevalance

Alonso beats Ceasar Music a length in the semi finals

The final was a hard fought buckle with Alonso just getting ahead before the turn

There's joy all round at the top of the field

Bred by John O`Sullivan who retained his share in the dog..........a lovely pedigree and heaps of speed and guts should see him popular in the breeding paddocks

By  Janey Mac Aroo out of  Eoin Bui, a Borrisoleigh TS winner and a Oaks quarter finalist......... shes making a habit of throwing Stars on the field being the dam of Kingsmill Bliss

What a shame there has to be a looser as Mafi went down fighting ..........only loosing out in the final strides

THE HOTEL MINELLA OAKS

What a shame we were unable to see these two great bitches go head to head.  I understand a shoulder injury put paid to Needham Times  chances. We were left with a very worthy Oaks Champion in Lisloose Accord who I'm told now heads to the breeding paddocks. I hope she emulates her mother and we`ll see her pups at Clonmel soon

Winner: LISLOOSE ACCORD (Bexhill Eoin – Chubbys Accord)
(declared winner)

I saw Accord on the first day at Knockgraffon and she really impressed.......a glance at the programme showed she was a daughter of a Oaks winner and it was no surprise to see her get a ticket.

THE CLASSICS CLUB CHAMPION STAKES

Bexhill Brian floated through this stake unchallenged . He was in great form. With the absence of Sandy Sea the expected final was never to be..........However at the top of the field Donard King was putting in some great runs and taking some good scalpes.  Brian was in no mood to be challenged and his useual quick getaway from slips sealed the final.

The final was mared when that super bitch Blades of Glory had the final at her mercy but pulled up lame. A truely class lady Blades has never enjoyed much luck at Clonmel............Last year she ran a super time in the first round only to go off colour in the evening and the next day was declared a non runner. Happily for Blades of Glory she is a much loved pet of the Guiney family, and has happily claimed her place on the sofa. We look forward to seeing her puppies soon
